21st Annual Care for Kids Golf Classic - July 15, 2013
AWARD - Casa Pacifica was honored with the 2013 National Association of Private Special Education Centers (NAPSEC) Leadership and Innovation in Special Education Award. On January 30th, Scott Mastroianni, Director of Education, accepted the award at the NAPSEC Annual Leadership Conference Awards Luncheon. Casa Pacifica was recognized for its two phase approach to a cultural shift that included the implementation of the following innovative methods and programs:
• The Culture Compass process that focuses on Casa Pacifica’s core values and beliefs • The development of Casa Pacifica’s program entitled Safe Environments for Learning & Growth (S.A.F.E. ©) as an alternative to previous restraint programs • The development of Casa Pacifica’s planning program Systems, Curriculum,Outcomes, People & Environment (SCOPE) program (based on the Four Pillars planning program) • The revision of the existing student reward program to tie into student’s IEP goals • The implementation of the Character Based Literacy© program
These programs, along with a diligent focus on hiring gifted, passionate individuals to work with the most challenging youth, allowed Casa Pacifica to make a remarkable transformation. Casa Pacifica became the school of choice for local school districts and resulted in an increased community student population of over 60 percent.
