"Seaville" the Multi-Sensory
De-Escalation Room

EDUCATION – The Multi-Sensory De-Escalation Room, (MSDR) better known on campus as “Seaville”, is a multi-sensory alternative to the use of seclusion or time-out rooms with a focus on helping youth increase emotional self-regulation and behavioral self-control.

Based on the latest brain research, "Seaville" is designed to create a meaningful learning experience before and after a crisis. Painted in a variety of ocean murals, the goal of the room is to support youth as they transition from external behavioral controls toward effective internal regulation of their behavior and emotions.

Staff use a variety equipment and activities as youth move from gross motor and fine motor activities to being able to verbalize and talk to staff about the crisis. This process helps them learn self regulation skills. To learn more view the Casa Pacifica Seaville MSDR Video.
